Arhar Dal, also known as Toor Dal, is a staple Indian pulse cooked to a soft, creamy texture. It is simmered with spices, onions, tomatoes, and aromatics to create a flavorful and wholesome curry. This versatile dal pairs perfectly with rice, roti, or parathas for a nutritious meal.

Ingredients:

  • Arhar (toor) dal
  • Water
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • Ghee or oil
  • Cumin seeds
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Green chilli

Recipe:

  • Wash arhar dal thoroughly and soak it for 20–30 minutes.
  • Pressure cook the dal with water, turmeric, and salt until soft.
  • Heat ghee or oil in a pan and add cumin seeds to crackle.
  • Add chopped garlic, onion, and green chilli; sauté until golden.
  • Mix in chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and oil separates.
  • Add the cooked dal and adjust water for desired consistency.
  • Simmer for a few minutes, stirring gently.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
