Comfort Rajma

Rajma is a classic Indian dish made with kidney beans cooked in a rich, spiced tomato-onion gravy. Slow-cooked to a soft, creamy texture, it absorbs the flavors of aromatic spices beautifully. Rich in protein and fiber, it is best enjoyed with steamed rice or roti.

Ingredients:

  • Rajma (Kidney Beans)
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • Cooking Oil or Ghee
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Spices (Red Chilli, Turmeric, Coriander Powder)
  • Salt

Recipe:

  • Wash and soak rajma in water for 8–10 hours or overnight.
  • Drain and pressure cook with fresh water and salt until soft.
  • Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  • Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden.
  • Mix in ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
  • Add tomatoes, turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  • Cook the masala until oil starts separating.
  • Add cooked rajma along with some cooking water.
  • Simmer on low flame for 15–20 minutes.
  • Finish with garam masala and fresh coriander.
