Kabuli Chana

Kabuli Chana is a nutritious and protein-rich chickpea dish cooked in a flavorful tomato-onion gravy with aromatic spices. Soft and hearty, it absorbs the masala well, making it perfect for wholesome meals. Commonly served with rice, roti, or as a salad, it is both healthy and satisfying.

Ingredients:

  • Kabuli chana (white chickpeas), soaked overnight
  • Onion, finely chopped
  • Tomato or tomato puree
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • Cooking Oil or Ghee
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Green chilli
  • Turmeric powder
  • Red chilli powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Garam masala
  • Fresh coriander leaves

Recipe:

  • Wash and soak kabuli chana in water overnight or for 8–10 hours
  • Pressure cook the soaked chana with salt until soft and well cooked
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them crackle
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown
  • Mix in ginger–garlic paste and cook until aroma releases
  • Add tomatoes and cook till oil starts separating
  • Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder and mix well
  • Add boiled kabuli chana and required water for gravy
  • Simmer on low flame for 10–15 minutes for rich taste
  • Finish with garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander
